This Season’s Artist Feature:
Goh Beng Kwan and His Vibrant Art

As one of the leading expressionist artists of his time, Goh Beng Kwan draws inspiration from nature’s raw form. He sees its beauty not just as it is but in a three-dimensional perspective. True to his tactile and sensitive nature, he appropriates the various mediums to express what he sees.

Collage as a mixed medium form of art, projects a good sense of feel and texture. Using fabric, rice paper, cloth, glass, and various materials to appropriate emotions, Goh Beng Kwan spurns an intriguing myriad of colours and forms in his artwork. The result is a more accurate rendition of his perception of nature.

The art of Goh Beng Kwan has been highly sought after and collected even by government and corporate organisations like The Monetary Authority of Singapore, Conrad Hotel, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Singapore Art Museum.

Showered with many well-deserved accolades and awards, Goh Beng Kwan stands as a mentor for other artists. A first-prize winner of the 1982 UOB Painting of the Year and Cultural Medallion recipient—to name a few—his commissioned artworks are also exhibited all around Singapore for the pleasure of everyone at Ocean Tower and Singapore Turf Club.
